EBUL Rainout rules
We cannot play on the Berkeley fields (Willard, San Pablo) when they are wet, when it is raining, or when field closure signs are present.
Albany (Ocean View field on Buchanan) is more lenient. Drizzle is OK for play, as long as there's no puddles.
Check the EBWL hotline or the home page for field status. Fields are sometimes closed for a few days after rain due to poor drainage. Absence of lights after 7:00p may be a sign that the fields are closed.
Pickup Play (All year round)
Pickup is open, drop-in play. Some games are seasonal while others continue almost all year round. A small donation may be requested or required. Bring yourself, your cleats, and a light and dark shirt. Pickup games span a very wide range of skills and are usually welcoming of newcomers. If you're looking to find out what the game is all about, pickup is where most players start.
NEW Fall Gilman Pickup begins in August 2009
(August 21st to November 27th)
This league is mainly for beginner and intermediate levels of players but there are many advanced players who take part. We play games on Tuesday and Thursday night at 7 and 8:30. Lights go out at 10. The Fields are located at the well lit, but poorly drained San Pablo park in Berkeley. San Pablo Park is a few blocks vaguely Northeast of the intersection of San Pablo and Ashby.

Local teams are the heart and soul of East Bay, CA Ultimate, the beginning of Ultimate in the Bay Area community.
Youth & College Ultimate
Most local universities have some amount of Ultimate being played, and many High Schools and Middle Schools have club or varsity teams on which to participate.

Tournament are a great way to play against tougher competition. Succesfully tournament play requires endurance, skill, savvy and plain-old fashioned hard work. On the other hand, tournaments are alot of fun, and a welcome change up from the regular crowd at pickup or league.
