EBUL Rainout rules
We cannot play on the Berkeley fields (Willard, San Pablo) when they are wet, when it is raining, or when field closure signs are present.
Albany (Ocean View field on Buchanan) is more lenient. Drizzle is OK for play, as long as there's no puddles.
Check the EBWL hotline or the home page for field status. Fields are sometimes closed for a few days after rain due to poor drainage. Absence of lights after 7:00p may be a sign that the fields are closed.

'The Basics' We play games on Tuesday and Thursday night at 7 and 8:30. Lights go out at 10. The Fields are located at the well lit, but poorly drained San Pablo park in Berkeley. San Pablo Park is a few blocks vaguely Northeast of the intersection of San Pablo and Ashby. The league has twelve teams that are set up to create as much parity as possible from a group randomly selected from all the people who register by the November 9th cutoff date. The league is coed with the goal of playing with 3:4/4:3 gender ratios, but usually bows to the reality of only having enough women to play 5:2.
We strongly encourage beginners to register for the league and we will hold beginner clinics at the beginning of the season. If you have a particular person(ride buddy, significant other, or the only person you know in town) that you would like to be teamed with, you can note that on your registration and we will do our best to place you on a team with that person. If the league is full, you will be placed on a waiting list. You will be contacted once you are selected or waitlisted. Games are on Tuesday and Thursday nights starting at 7pm or 8:30pm and lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Pre-season final night of registration party
Was held Thursday, November 15th from 7:00pm-9:00pm, at the Albatross Pub.
Post-season party
...was on Lane Splitter on Sunday March 26th from 4pm - till 10pm. We had free pizza and beer/drinks for players until the tab rans out., Lane Splitter
We're plowing the extra money left over from last season into this one, as promised. But costs have gone up this year: field rental is 4% higher; we're planning a post-season party; we're no longer paying for registration data entry!
FAQ
When will I know whether I'm in the league?
About 2 weeks after the pre-season party (generally the week after Thanksgiving).
Can I still register after the deadline?
Yes, and if the league hasn't filled yet, you'll get a spot. If it has, you'll be placed on the waiting list.
Is there anything we can do to reduce the rainouts? / Can we have an end-of-season playoff?
Yes! There is a local organization of sports leagues that pursues the creation of more fields, including better graded grass and artifical turf. We can become more active in their cause. Contact us of you are interested in helping.
